Facilities Since the closure of Big Thunder Sports Park in 1995, the Club has partnered with the Thunder Bay Nordic Trails Association (TBNTA) and Kamview Nordic Ski Centre, who have graciously provided a home for the many programs and events held by Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club. TBNTA also maintains trail systems at Kakabeka Falls and Sleeping Giant Provincial Parks. The Club is also very fortunate to have an excellent relationship with Lappe Nordic Centre, where athletes from both clubs can frequently be found training together. Both Kamview and Lappe utilize state-of-the-art-grooming equipment to provide the best classic tracks and skate lanes winter has to offer. The trail systems offer a variety of terrain to accommodate all abilities, and are incredibly well maintained throughout the entire year to allow for fast, safe skiing on even the sparsest amounts of snow. Skiers will also find comfortable chalets with such amenities as washrooms, hot food, plowed parking lots, trail maps, and well-lit trails throughout the winter. Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club is extremely proud of the co-operative spirit that makes up the XC ski community in Thunder Bay. |
