Chandra Crawford selects Thunder Bay Female Skiers!
Fast and Female by Jim Cameron
[January 31, 2007]

Where are all the girls?" is the main question on Chandra Crawford’s (Olympic cross-country gold medalist) mind when she meets the numerous ski teams who come through Canmore, Alberta. Chandra believes that cross-country skiing is an awesome sport that should see equal participation from both sexes!

Something had to be done. In 2005, Chandra came up with Fast and Female. and  on Sunday, February 4, 2007  a dozen young girls ages 14 – 16  from across Canada are going to Canmore to visit Olympic Gold Medalist Chandra Crawford and the National Ski team  for a day of  cross-country skiing, motivation  and  getting  to know some of Canada’s (and the World’ s)  top skiers.

Three of the twelve girls chosen are from Ontario and all three are from Thunder Bay.  Daphne Haggarty, Moira Haggarty and Krista Luckai – members of the Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club and competitive skiers in the midget and juvenile categories – are looking forward to spending a whole day with their Olympic idols.
